Matthew Hurst
Act III quote
“ No, tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide
as a church door; but tis enough, ‘twill serve. Ask
for me tomorrow and you shall find me a grave man.” – Mercutio Mercutio is referring to the wound that he has obtained from Tybalt. He refers to it as not being so deep as a well meaning it really isn’t that deep. He also says it’s not as wide as a church door meaning it really isn’t all that wide either. Then he says twill serve meaning it will do, and it will kill him. He predicts that he will be dead by tomorrow, and doesn’t plan to live much longer. He speaks this quote to Romeo and Benvolio, and Romeo ends up getting revenge by killing Tybalt.
